Let’s hear it for bacteria,
the ones who from the start of life
have made the world go round.
They’re everywhere, they’re near ya.
In animals. In people too!
there’s more of them in you than you.
It’s true! Ten million cells or so
make up the body that is you
but your own bacteria
beat that number
ten to one. Eeeuw!
Don’t bacteria make you sick?
Some do. A few.
But millions of others make you tick.
And not just you but all the world
since life unfurled.
